The article focuses on the examination of the elected local councils' performance after its establishment in Iran in 1999. It notes that the establishment of the city council encourages participation from its citizens to the nation's governance. It mentions the interview of various city councilors as data for the research on its performance. Furthermore, pessimism on the performance of city council members prevails which points their lack of authority as one of the reason for their poor performance. |
