The article discusses the changes in surface smoothness of a dental restoration in a bruxing primate. It informs that the roughness of the surface is dependent upon the finishing technique and composition of the restorative material. It compares the effect of intraoral stresses on surface finishes of various dental restorative materials including tytin, profile and sevitron. The results of the comparison shows that there was an equal gouges and cracks in the materials after 199 days, besides, all materials showed evidence of light scratches. It was also observed that differences in initial surface roughness owing to various finishing techniques decreases with time and ultimately reach an equilibrium. |
