The article relates the visit of former U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt to Texas in 1892. His reason for visiting the state was to investigate the dismissal of a few U.S. postal employees for political reasons. The visit will be used by Roosevelt to hunt for peccaries or javelinas, as they are known in the state, which will be written in his outdoors memoir "The Wilderness Hunter." Roosevelt's next visit to the state was because of the war in 1898. |
