Abstrakt: The article focuses on the frequency and nature of the bereavement practices of medical oncologists (MOs), radiation oncologists (ROs) and palliative care specialists (PCs) in Canada. Survey involved Canadian MOs, ROs and PCs through their respective national organizations. About 535 of the 756 eligible physicians completed the survey with 33.3% of them indicating that they always make a telephone call or send a condolence card or attend a funeral following a patient's death. In addition, 30.5% claimed they perform at least one of these practices sometimes and 36.2% are those who practice rarely or never. Authors concluded that few cancer physicians provide bereavement follow-up.
