The article examines the pervasiveness of qing in late Ming literature and society and explains its significance through an analysis of the novel "Jiao Hong Ji" (JHJ), by Song Yuan. The novel is a love story and narrates the tragic love of Wang Jiaoniang and Shen Chun." According to the article, the most important reason for the place of JHJ in the late Ming period is its theme and content. An analysis of how qing is depicted in the story is offered. Also included are the attitudes of compilers, writers, and adapters toward JHJ, including He Dalun, Qinhuai Yuke, and Lulian Jushi. |
