An economic outlook for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) for 2009 is presented. The deteriorating outlook for the second quarter reflects the governments' constrained finances and lower growth. Egypt, Iraq, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are countries seeking to increase borrowing over the coming months and years. It expects reduced revenue for countries in this region as a result of a slowdown in global trade and domestic growth. A small fiscal deficit is also expected for Qatar this year. |
