The change in Er3+ green upconversion intensity with Er3+ ion concentration, co-doping with Yb3+ ion, fluorine concentration in the glass and the excited pump wavelengths has been systematically studied. The optimal Er3+ concentration and pump wavelength for green upconversion in tellurite glass have been obtained. Co-doping with Yb3+ ion in Er3+ doped fluoride-tellurite glass increases the green intensity dramatically, to a level comparable with that in Er3+ doped fluoride glass. In Er3+ doped tellurite glass, the lifetime of green fluorescence at 4S3/2 level was 20-30 µs. With the addition of fluorine to the glass, the lifetime increased to 100 µs, which enhances the quantum efficiency for green lasing in tellurite glass fibre. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
