Abstrakt: The article offers information about the National Institute of Dental Research (NIDR) in the U.S. It is stated that the NIDR is the third oldest of the 11 National Institutes of Health. It was established in 1948, grew out of recognition of pioneering research on dental caries, and the power of fluorine to protect teeth against decay, and is currently the single largest agency worldwide supporting dental research. It is reported that in the coming future, NIDR will exceed $100 million to expand opportunities for graduating dentists to pursue careers in oral health research.
