Abstrakt: The article focuses on the role of restorative dentistry in the field of dental care. Restorative dentistry has combined the need to remove diseased tissue with the need to prepare the teeth to accommodate the properties of the restorative materials in use. The advent of the acid etch technique has led to many conservative methods of tooth restoration which enable restorative dentists to remove disease and restore teeth without the irreversible damage. The technique of preventive resin restoration is utilized in situations where the pit and fissure decay in minimal, or where the operator feels it uncomfortable to utilise a pit and fissure sealant. Several photographs of deseased teeth are also presented.
