Public demand is growing for more and better transportation. Economic history teaches us that this demand will be met. Will it be met by private enterprise--or by government? If private enterprise is to do the job, the authors believe, it must undertake far more aggressive efforts than it has to date. There must be collaboration among companies, and between companies and government, to study the need and to plan steps to meet it.
