Students in four classes (N=101) in a Technical High School and a Lyceum in the city of Zabrze, Katowice Province, Poland were randomly assigned to experimental and control groups before ranking Roger Bybee's twelve environmental threats. The results indicated that the two high schools, males and females, and the treatment and control groups all ranked the top three threats (Air Quality, Hazardous Substances and Water Resources) based more on personal experience with the threats than whether or not they had taken environmental protection classes in school. The treatment intensified the rankings but had no effect on the order. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
