Four extracoronal clasps that can be used to successfully treat most patients requiring removable partial dentures are discussed. Retention factors, forces applied to abutment teeth, relevant periodontal considerations, and the importance of a stable distal extension base for Kennedy Class I and II removable partial dentures are also discussed.
