Abstrakt: The article presents a study by Graham McGeoch and F Michael Davis on a scuba diving accident that happened in French Pass, New Zealand in March 2000. It notes that in this accident, which involves seven divers including six students and one instructor, three died and four were injured. It states that they were swept by a strong current to a depth of 90 metres' sea water while diving in a narrow pass using open-circuit scuba. The legal consequences for this accident as well as its implication for diver training and employment are discussed.
