Abstrakt: The article presents information related to the development of various case laws related to mental and physical disability in the U.S. In Sanjar v. Turner case, a Texas appeals court held that a physician who was board-certified in internal medicine was qualified to render an expert opinion on the standard of care for psychiatrists. An Indiana appeals court held that expert testimony on proximate cause is required in a case of alleged sexual misconduct by a psychiatrist.
