Abstrakt: The article discusses women in business in Boston, Massachusetts during the 18th and 19th centuries. The author notes the role of women in stabilizing Boston's economy following the Revolutionary War and comments on their work as merchants, tailoresses and owners of boarding houses. She comments on women's success in selling children's toys and as teachers and discusses how women received occupational training through apprenticeships.
