The article focuses on the ethnic adaptation of Russians in Siberia, Russia from the 18th to the early 20th centuries. It discusses the adaptation of the Russians in the traditional subsistence systems which include basic elements of material culture such as food, housing, clothing, and adaptation under various ecological conditions and in the framework of social evolution. It explores the adaptive processes which include preadaptation, in-adaptation, and postadaptation. It states that Russians had been successful in its adaptation to the Siberian environment through the development of advanced intraregional complexes of material culture and efficient solutions to problems under various circumstances. |
