The article discusses the Küçük Hüseyin Efendi "tekke" (Islamic monastery) and mosque, a religious complex in Istanbul, Turkey, affiliated with a Sufi religious order. The complex is described, and a section of photographs is included. A revision to the original dating of the site is also presented: rather than dating it to the 19th century, based on an inscription from Sultan Mahmud II, the authors proposed a 16th-century date of origin for the "tekke," based on a gravestone near the entrance for Hacce Mihrişah Hatun, daughter of the Grand Vizier Iskender Paşa, dated 1540. |
