Abstrakt: This paper reports an optical method of temperature measurement to analyze active medium in a slab-type radio-frequency discharge excited CO2 laser based on near-infrared absorption spectroscopy with a near 1.6-μm distributed-feedback (DFB) semi-conductor laser. The method was used to measure gas temperatures in the range between 400 K and 600 K. Real-time temperature monitoring and accurate measurement of CO2 were achieved by using the DFB laser. These results show the potential to be a practical sensor for diagnostic of the active medium of a CO2 laser. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
