Information about the two MutS monomers, which have different conformations and form a heterodimer at the structural level; Role of the dimeric MutS protein in the recognition of and response to a DNA mismatch; Finding that mutations in human MutS alpha that lead to hereditary predisposition for cancer, such as hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer, can be mapped to this crystal structure |
