The article discusses the use of roller-compacted concrete (RCC) as a substitute for the asphalt base or binder in Indiana. It is cited that RCC is cheaper and has structurally equivalent pavement section. The efforts of the Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association to introduce RCC in the state include its invitation for Union County's highway supervisor to attend an RCC seminar conducted by the Southeast Cement Association. The process for replacing asphalt streets with RCC pavements in the reconstruction project of Calumet Civil Contractors is given. |
