An interview with poet and novelist Anita Nair in Bangalore, India is presented. When asked about the languages she speaks, she refers to the five languages such as Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and English. She reveals that her works have been translated into Indian languages, but feels like an outsider because poetry is not widely embraced in India. Nair explains that the traditional role of an Indian woman encompasses the religious texts and preparations for marital and maternal life. |
