Abstrakt: The article evaluates the mechanical strength of cubic BN-glass interfaces. It reports that it developed a glass-cBN-glass sandwich test structure to measure interfacial bonding strength when only sub-millimeter sized boron nitride (cBN) crystals are available. To fuse glass to the cBN particles with negligible glass-to-glass contact, the article notes that sandwich structures were heat-treated. It also reveals that the cBN-glass bonding area and nature of de-bonded surfaces was observed via scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
