Abstrakt: The effect of insulin on dental caries in pan-createctomized and nonpancreatectomized white rats was studied. The experimental rats were pancreatectomized to 95%. All rats were killed 30 days after the operation and autopsies were performed on both experimental and control rats. The results showed a significant decrease of caries activity in nonpancreatectomized rats injected with insulin, as compared with the activity in normal controls; increased caries activity in pancreatectomized rats; and suppression of the cariogenic effect of pancreatectomy by insulin that was in direct relation to the dose of insulin.
