Abstrakt: The article presents chemical investigation into the anomalies of mottled or chalky enamel and resulting tooth discoloration. Mottled and stained teeth were chemically tested for decreased levels of calcium (Ca), calcium/phosphorus ratio and iron content. Results found organic matter, Ca and phosphorus from stained and mottled enamel did not show any consistent deviation from normal values, which does not support decalcification theories. Brown stain was not linked to iron content.
