The article presents an analysis and assessment of issues related to the use of dental materials and their possible side-effects. It is the result of deliberations by a panel of experts at a conference which was sponsored by the Office of Medical Applications of Research of the National Institutes of Health, and the National Institute of Dental Research. Questions addressed include the severity and incidence of possible side-effects, systemic reactions such as allergies, the risk to benefit ratios of certain materials, and recommendations for further research. |
