This article discusses the history of research cooperation between the U.S. National Bureau of Standards and the American Dental Association. The research into dental materials and metallurgy conducted through this partnership is assessed. the origins of the partnership under the tutelage of the dental researchers Norris Onslow Taylor and his son Duane Francis Taylor is explored. Relationships between dental researchers, the national Bureau of Standards, and the manufacturers of dental hygiene products are analysed. |
