Abstrakt: The article discusses the buffering of saliva and explores the salivary buffering role played by sodium and potassium. Details are provided about the microbiology and hydrogen-ion concentration (pH) of saliva. The increase in production of salivary sodium and bicarbonate from the salivary glands following stimulation is also described.
