Investigation of the MeOHCH2Cl2extract of the soft coral Cespitularia hypotentaculatacollected in Taiwan has resulted in the isolation of four new verticillanetype diterpenoids, cespihypotins M–P 1–4. Compounds 2and 3are C20epimers. Compound 4with a CO group at C10 and a methoxycarbonyl group at C12 may be an important precursor of cespitularins and cespihypotins. The structures of these compounds were determined on the basis of spectroscopic analyses. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR] |
