The article offers information on FAC or 18Ffluoroarabinofuranosyl cytosine, a new positron emission tomography (PET) imaging probe that is based on the chemotherapy drug gemcitabine manufactured by Eli Lilly. FAC is designed to measure the immune response to disease and therapies in autoimmune diseases and cancers. It enters cells through DNA salvage pathway following the path of activated T cells. It is developed by researchers at the University of California Los Angeles. |
