The article reports on the impact of the 2008 economic crisis among the very wealthy people in the New York City financial services sector and attendant industries. The author notes that personal financial losses have been so severe that formerly rich executives have been forced to cut back on extravagant manners of living. In addition the economic downturn has had a negative impact on charities supported by the wealthy and on organizations that provided luxury goods and services. |
