Abstrakt: The article presents information on the booklet "Greeting by Gesture," by Garrick Mallery. It is a reprint from the periodical "The Popular Science Monthly," for February and March of 1891 and contains 32 pages. Mallery has written that gesture is a very important part of the study of greetings. In the booklet, Mallery has treated gestures in greetings as semiotic signs with a symbolic function. The booklet had divisions of the subject matter into salutations with, and without contact.
