Abstrakt: The article offers information on Giorgio Agamben's metaphysics. It states that Agamben has contradicted the thought of no contemporary philosopher more systematically than that of Jacques Derrida, whose questioning of phonocentric metaphysics Agamben has attempted to replace by a portrayal of metaphysics as graphocentric. For Agamben, to go back behind the replacement of the voice by the letter is tantamount to recovering the event of language itself , or the taking-place of language as Being. Moreover, his commitment to Martin Heidegger's fundamental ontology is overemphasized by his investment in the Christian God as "logos."
