Abstrakt: | The article reports that in almost one percent of U.S. citizens, consuming the protein gluten damages the small intestine and hinders its ability to absorb nutrients. This condition is known as celiac disease and doctors treat it with a gluten-free diet. Particular attention is given to the number of people looking for gluten-free products, about 15 to 25 percent, which is much more than the amount of people doctors have prescribed. |
