The article reflects on the memories of Ruth First, an intellectual and academic in Mozambique. It states that the five years First spent in Mozambique were an important period in the history of the country. The author notes that scholars like First should be remembered because they are academics whose purpose was to help diminish the suffering of existence, fight ignorance, and transform a particular place without losing sight of the fact that they belonged to something universal. |
