Abstrakt: The article reports on the renovation and expansion of the Campus Recreation Center (CRC) at the Georgia Institute of Technology, in Atlanta, Georgia which is motivated by a peer review of the building and the effect of the live load vibrations in it. It notes that post-tensioned beams were built to support several gymnasiums including the swimming and diving pools that were constructed for the 1996 Olympics, multipurpose rooms for aerobic activities, and an elevated jogging track. Three main criteria on the vibration specification, which were adapted from the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) Steel Design Guide and the method of structure analyses of the building are also given.
