The article discusses how the newly developed technologies in wearable medical devices and body area networks (BANs) can contribute to the new system in the form of a four-layered architecture, personal, home, community and hospital or the PHCH system and to the future reduction of medical costs. Using the management of blood pressure, it was shown that innovative technologies in wearable medical devices and BANs could be used to collect information for the PHCH system. Moreover, it can be used to provide a low-cost and effective management of chronic health problems. |
