The article focuses on the High Desert Play Development Program, a reading program for playwrights developed by directors Tom Smith and William Storm. It notes that the program does not require submission fees nor have parameters insisting on participation in future production royalties. According to Smith, the benefit of hosting a program like High Desert is that there is a much bigger pool of attendees for readings. It cites that the program enables playwrights to see if their plays work well with a university audience. |
