Abstrakt: The article describes several cases of primary amebic meningoencephalitis (PAM) in Arizona, Florida and Texas during June to September 2007. It is said that PAM is a nearly always fatal disease caused by Naegleria fowleri. A total of six PAM cases has been reported in 2007. The Naegleria Workgroup has been formed by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists (CSTE) to review actions related to N. fowleri.
