| Abstrakt: |
The author responds to an article by Jay Coakley which examines factors that impede college sports research. The author agrees with Coakley's observation of the prevailing academic culture which protects traditional sports and undermines sports as research topic. She reiterates his points by drawing from her experience as an adviser to the athletics department of the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. |
