| Abstrakt: |
The article reports on the use of water-based paints in pavement marking systems. The properties of solvent-based paints and latex paints as traffic paints are also compared in the article. According to the author, the development of polymer binder technology during the start of 1990s makes waterborne paints viable in pavement markings than solvent-based paints. He investigates the performance of paints with water-borne binders during a cold temperature application. As a result, the author concludes that polymer crystals present in water-borne paints enhances night visibility of pavement markings, making the paint viable for use of road signs. Tables on formulations of water-borne paints are also included. |
