We classify all hyperplanes of the dual polar space DH(5, q2), q ≠ 2. We will show that there are five types of hyperplanes and that all of them arise from the universal embedding of DH(5, q2). These five types of hyperplanes also exist in the dual polar space DH(5, 4), but they are not all the hyperplanes. In the forthcoming paper [De Bruyn B. and Pralle H.: The exceptional hyperplanes of DH(5,4). European J.
