Abstrakt: The article reports that Lancaster University has deployed a wireless mesh network (WMN), a self-managing network in which all nodes acts as routers that can route traffic either directly or via a multihop path, in the rural village of Wray situated about 10 miles from Lancaster, England. The community will be given over a three-year period Internet service since WMN creates a resilient infrastructure using a combination of wireless networking technology and ad hoc routing protocols, which together allows service providers or communities establish networks in places without prior groundwork. Moreover, the project gave the university's researchers a real-world testbed for exploring the technical and social issues entailed in deploying WMNs in the heart of a small community.
