This paper summarizes results of assembling of genetic resources of fodder crops and their relatives in the Research Institute for Fodder Crops, Ltd. in last 50 years. There sources are evaluated in three stages: the evaluation of seed samples, the evaluation of growths and the evaluation of individual plants. The evaluation is made according to descriptor's lists or sets of minimal descriptors which are available for most of the species. All the obtained data are recorded in central evidence of genetic resources EVIGEZ. The original seed samples are stored in the Czech National Gene Bank in the Research Institute of Plant Production in Praha-Ruzynì. Many of the collected samples have been used in our breeding programmes. Our institute is holder of 11 varieties of fodder crops. It is Carthamus tinctorius L. - SABINA (1997), Cicer arietinum L. - IRENKA (1998), Coronilla varia L. - EROZA (1990), Lotus ornithopodioides L. - JUNÁK (1997), Malva verticillata L. - DOLINA (1993), Medicago lupulina L. - EKOLA (1998), Melilotus albus MEDIC. (annual form) - ADÉLA (1997), Melilotus albus MEDIC. (biennial form) - KRAJOVÁ (1950), Phalaris canariensis L. - JUDITA (2000), Secale cereale L. var. multicaule METZG. ex ALEF - LESAN (2003), Trigonella foenum-graecum L. - HANKA (2006).
