The article determines the cost and yield of using biomarkers to identify patients with tumors caused by defective DNA mismatch repair (MMR). It illustrates how this may be cost effective. The cost of microsatellite instability (MSI) analysis or immunohistochemistry (IHC) were compared with potential savings on 5-fluorouracil-based chemotherapy. |
