Abstrakt: The article explores the pedagogical implications of providing adolescent readers the opportunities to experience sympathy for fictional characters. The author also discusses ways on how experiences with narrative fiction can help adolescent readers develop emotional and conceptual structures as well as how it can help form the basis for a problem-solving, emotionally-rich curriculum which aims to develop the capacities for emotional awareness and ethical reflection of students.
