This article focuses on public art in the U.S. Through percent-for-art ordinances, public art was reborn in the country during the 1970s and 1980s. These laws authorized artists to design public buildings in the country. Artists are chosen for public commissions in most percent-for-art programs. Usually, this selection process favors popular artists. But it is stated that one of the most frustrating aspects of this process was the intense scrutiny with which their projects are examined. The design team was one of the most celebrated developments in public art. |
