The article profiles National Textile Center (NTC), a research consortium of four U.S. universities and funded by the U.S. Department of Commerce. Universities included in the consortium are Auburn University, Clemson University, Georgia Tech University and the North Carolina State University. The mission of NTC is to offer an academic research base for the continuance of viability and competitiveness of various industrial complex in the country. In response to such aim, institutions have promised to share personnel, equipment and facilities for the research. The goals of the consortium are to develop materials, innovative and manufacturing processes, to provide resources relevant in the use of new technologies and to strengthen the U.S. textile research and educational efforts. |
