Abstrakt: The article outlines the research conducted by Martin J. Siegert on ice-sheet evolution and Antarctic subglacial topography. Eventhough ice-sheet flow and form in Antarctica, it is controlled to a large degree by topography, the continent's landscape evolution and its influence on ice-sheet development is poorly understood. Researchers found that the large sedimentary fan at Prydz Bay was developed by first fluvial, then glacial, deposition and the ice-sheet modeling shows that the development of a bathymetric trough near the shelf break resulted in the development of an ice stream.
