Abstrakt: A chapter of the book "Child Welfare in the Twenty-First Century" is presented. It focuses on the response of child welfare system to domestic violence. It is observed that conflict arises between the Child Protective Services (CPS) and advocates of battered women. While CPS tries to strengthen families and encourages the members to stay in the family, these advocates allegedly empower the victim to keep her children safe by leaving home.
