Abstrakt:	The article focuses on the three major films of Adoor Gopalakrishnan during the 1980: Mathilukal/The Walls (1989); Mukhamukham/Face to Face (1984); and Anantaram/Monologue (1987). It also discusses the film Nizalkutthu/Shadow Kill (2002) and includes an overview of his life and career. It also notes on the subject of the outsider and the related issue of otherness, in which he claims to be present to all films. It also reveals how his protagonists are women and men who have been displaced from the mainstream society.
